I totally disagree with Sarah Hayward’s comments – is she talking about the same cemetery as I visit everyday – along with my dogs – as do many other local people?
My grandparents and my dad are buried in that cemetery and both I and other local dog walkers walk through the cemetery in a very respectful way.
I can name at least ten walkers who pick up other people’s rubbish that has been discarded in the cemetery, and on the Rookery fields, and we keep the area very spick and span.
Indeed our local Neighbourhood Watch group has been active in clearing out ditches, and open spaces in the Bull Meadow area also.
Yes our dogs are often off lead – because they are well behaved and do no damage at all to the graves or environment. Indeed we improve it, as stated, because we love its peace, tranquility and beauty.
Council workers also look after the grounds impeccably, cutting grass, tending trees and emptying bins.
