A proposal to redevelop land close to Lakeside Shopping Centre into an industrial site has been submitted to Thurrock Council.
The planning application proposes redeveloping a 6,000 square metre plot of land at Motherwell Way, in Grays, by demolishing the exiting commercial units and replacing them with a new industrial complex.
Exact details of the development are limited as the applicant, BEGG Nominees Limited, is only seeking outline planning permission at this stage however they have proposed two possible options for the development.
One option is for a large commerical building with a second smaller building attached, the other option is for a series of three smaller buildings.
Both designs would include space for HGV parking and turning space.
Planning documents state: “The outline application seeks to enable the flexible development of the site by proposing a range of uses of a similar typology and nature, compatible with the surrounding employment area, in order to facilitate development of the site on a speculative basis.”
They add: “The proposal will contribute to continued reinvigoration of the Lakeside Basin by replacing older building stock and increasing levels of employment floor space.”
The application will be considered at a future planning committee meeting.
