Six people have been left injured after a crash near a pub.
The crash involving two vehicles happened at 2.25pm yesterday in Roxwell Road, just outside Chelmsford at the junction with Vicarage Road.
A blue Astra and a grey Jaguar crash during the incident.
Five people in the Jaguar suffered injuries, including an 80-year-old man who suffered a fractured shoulder.
The others, including the five year old girl, suffered cuts and bruises.
The driver of the Vauxhall Astra, a man in his 30s, suffered various broken bones at was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge where he remains.
A 32-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of various driving offences. He remains on bail while enquiries continue.
