A village is preparing to say goodbye to one of its firefighters at his funeral today.

Tillingham will pay tribute to Daniel Barnes who passed away recently at his funeral at the Church of St Nicholas in The Square.

The fire station said Daniel is "gone, but never forgotten".

In a post on social media, a station spokesman said: "Today we say goodbye to our brother and dear friend, firefighter Daniel Barnes.

"The funeral procession will start from Tillingham Fire Station and arrive at the church for 1.30pm.

The village will be busy with cars and various fire appliances attending.

"So please be patient and respectful during this time.

"We thank you for your cooperation."

Tillingham Village Council has opened up the West Field car park for all residents who wish to attend the funeral.

A spokesman added: "All people attending this event are requested to drive to the West Field Car Park, CM0 7TR.

"Drive through the car park onto the West Field Recreation Ground and park to your left, adjacent to the public footpath."
