THE recent introduction of evening and weekend opening for our doctors’ surgeries is a Godsend.

I haven’t used it myself yet, but have heard much praise from those who have.

Not only is it good for those who work during the day, it can also be useful for parents who can leave the children at home with their partner and visit their doctor without the worry of them getting bored during what can be a long wait, and also being able to speak freely without the worry of ‘little ears’ overhearing and perhaps repeating things best kept private.

It should also ease the pressure when trying to get a timely daytime appointment.
