AN EXHIBTION to remember the 'interwar' years is being held at the Thameside Complex.

Guests are invited to explore information and facts about the period between the two world wars, which are known as the 'interwar' years.

During the years between November 1918 and September 1939, England adjusted massively to a social transformation, which saw career opportunities being developed for women, as well as for those aged over 21 who were given the right to vote. Nancy Astor also became the first woman MP.

Overseas, Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor in Germany and billions of dollars were lost in the Wall Street stock market crash which took place in America.

Back home, the 'interwar' years also saw the General strike and Jarrow Crusade take place.

Different styles of dance, including the Charleston, were introduced, silent films were replaced with talkies and the BBC was also founded.

From April 8 to 11am on April 26, the free exhibition will be run by Thurrock Museum volunteers.

This exhibition is just one of the free events and exhibitions that the Thurrock Museum, on Orsett Road, Grays, will see in 2019.
