Oh dear, I’ve been such a fool. I’ve written about the council’s £10million pound vanity project and passed on information about “consultations” but I was completely mistaken.

The building of the project is a fait accompli. The residents and taxpayers are not going to be asked about the project. It’s just going to be done anyway. The consultation was a planning consultation. It asked for opinions on the designs, not whether it should be built in the first place.

As John Kent pointed out, there are no benefits for the tax payer. John refers to management speak but there is also an estate agent’s job waiting for Mr Gledhill should he tire of spending our money. Public facing indeed.

The current unused section of the council offices could be adapted to provide everything the council leader wants apart from this strange obsession he has to be facing the high street.

With uncertainty about Brexit and the possible financial repercussions Thurrock could well use £10million pounds in the near future. It’s being “backwards” to not prepare for the future.

However, we shouldn’t worry unduly because we will have a civic office facing the high street.
