A Purfleet resident has been prosecuted and fined for continued noise nuisance.
On Friday 8 March, David Kerr of Marine Court, Purfleet, was ordered to pay a £270 fine, £500 costs and a £30 victim surcharge at Basildon Magistrates Court.
He was found guilty of breaching a noise abatement notice served under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 after he continued to amplify speech and play loud music, disturbing his neighbours.
Environmental Protection Officers seized 20 bags of equipment from Kerr’s address including amplifiers, speakers and surround sound system.
Officers applied a forfeiture order meaning most of the equipment will be destroyed, with anything of reasonable value being donated to charity.
Following the conviction, investigating officers applied for a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) against Mr Kerr, part of which controls amplified music or speech at his home address, for a two-year period.
The CBO was granted by the court.
