A drink driver has been banned after failing a roadside breath test in Tilbury.
Officers were carrying out routine patrols in the area surrounding the Port of Tilbury when a vehicle attracted their attention.
The driver was stopped by the Port of Tilbury police in St Andrews Road in January and given a breath test after officers suspected he was driving under the influence.
The 37-year-old man provided a positive sample and was arrested and charged. His vehicle was also seized for having no insurance.
Yesterday, the driver appeared at Colchester Magistrates where pleaded guilty to drink driving and was handed a four-year ban.
He was also ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and 20 days of a rehabilitation requirement.
The courts ordered him to pay £85 in costs.
