THURROCK Council has set up collection points across the borough for people to recycle paper-based drinks cartons.
The Tetrapak' containers, used for milk and juice - and increasingly items liked chopped tomatoes and wine - cannot be recycled through the blue box scheme operating on people's doorsteps, but they can be recycled at five sites.
The council is asking residents to wash and squash the cartons before taking them to collection points at:
Asda, Thurrock Park Way, Tilbury
Derry Avenue Car Park, South Ockendon
Giffords Cross Road Car Park, Corringham
Morrisons, Hogg Lane, Grays
Sainsburys, Burghley Road, Chafford Hundred
Once collected they are taken away to be baled, transported to a recycling mill. They can be recycled into a number of different products, ranging from plasterboard liner to high-strength paper bags and envelopes.
