A THURROCK singer is in seventh heaven after winning rave reviews for his one man show.

The Thameside Theatre in Grays played host to Chadwell St Mary's Andy Mawbey when he took to the stage for the first time with his own production - Swing from the Apple.' Andy has been singing on and off for over 20 years, fronting bands and generally having fun, but now he has taken the incredibly brave step of quitting his job with Proctor & Gamble, after 15 years, and has embarked on a full time career as a singer and cabaret artiste.

Reviwer Stuart Smith of BBC Essex said: "The fact that he has launched this new career, with such a fantastic showcase performance', which was wonderfully well received by an enthusiastic audience, goes some way to confirming his determination and undoubted talent.

"Andy performed for 2 hours, delivering real classics including Mack the knife' - Beyond the sea' & Fly me to the Moon', but also introduced a swing' style to more contemporary numbers.

"Andy Mawbey is a terrific talent, and for those who love Swing' he is a real master.""

After the show, Andy said: "It was a fantastic experience, and thanks must go to all the team that made it such a great night.

"I am so grateful to Yvette Twinn and her Theatre & Dance School girls, they were pivotal to the show, and their professionalism throughout months of rehearsals and of course on the night' was magnificent."

Andy's next move is to fill his calendar with dates for either his full production show, complete with beautifully talented dancers, or as a Solo Act for smaller venues.
