A MAN was taken to hospital with serious chest injuries after an early morning smash.
The 24-year-old was driving his red Renault Clio along the A126, near Thurrock's Lakeside shopping centre, when he collided with the rear of a parked, blue Mercedes A160.
The man, from Grays, was taken to Basildon Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
The owner of the Mercedes, a 27-year-old woman, also from Grays, was not in her car at the time.
The road was closed for four hours while emergency services dealt with the scene.
Witnesses to the crash, which happened at 6.30am on Thursday, October 4, are asked to contact officers at Laindon traffic police on 01268 541312.
