A FORMER Army cook made a young boy wear women’s clothing before sexually assaulting him, a court has heard.

Norman Maddox, formerly of Colchester, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court yesterday facing one charge of indecent assault on a male and one charge of indecency involving a child.

Maddox, now of Southbank Road, Manchester, is alleged to have attempted to force a boy to touch him inappropriately whilst at an address in Colchester in the 1980s.

The 64-year-old is also accused of indecently assaulting a child whilst in another location.

Anthony Abell, prosecuting, said: “He dressed up the boy as the preamble to the sexual abuse which followed.

“The defendant was working as a cook in the Army.

“When the defendant was interviewed by police about the allegations in January 2014, he said nothing of the sort ever happened.”

Mr Abell said the victim remembers the Colchester assault taking place.

“He says the defendant came into his room wearing only a pair of Y-front pants and he had a bag with him,” he said.

“He said it was a pair of lady’s tights which came out of the bag.”

The court heard Maddox then put them on the boy’s body and sexually assaulted him.

Mr Abell added: “The defendant suddenly stopped, took the tights off, told him to get dressed and left the room.”

Maddox denies both charges against him.

  • The trial, which is expected to take five days, continues.
