MAY I through your paper express my annoyance at Thurrock Council and Mears Servicing Contractors.

On Christmas Eve my shower packed up. I phoned them on Thursday December 27.

I told Mears my problem and said that being a wet room that was my only means of washing down as the shower and pump did not work.

I was told I would be on Emergency callout, and that electrician would be out within 24 hours.

At 14.40 an electrician turned up.

He told me that I needed a new circuit board, but he didn’t have one and that he had to put in a report and hand it to Mears who then had to have the OK from the council to order the part, then wait three days for it to come in, then book another appointment with me to install.

On Monday December 31 I phoned Mears and complained about how stupid their system was and said that if my shower was not running by midday on January 4 I would write to you. Guess what it hasn’t been done.

My complaint is this, Mears has the servicing contract on 100s of Mira showers, so why have they not got any spare parts, why do they have to refer back to the council to get the OK?
