A HIGHLY regarded former teacher was laid to rest on Friday.
Edward Haines’ funeral took place at Grays Parish Church at 12.15pm, followed by a burial at Chadwell St Mary cemetery.
A keen musician, Edward, known as Ted, passed away suddenly a few minutes after playing the piano at home.
Ted joined Grays Parish Choir at 12 and soon learned to play the organ.
He was deputy organist under Len Nottridge and later became organist a choirmaster, and was still organist when he passed away.
He married Audrey, a member of the choir, in 1961.
Ted taught a huge number of children and adults to play the piano and keyboard. Before retirment Ted was a primary school teacher in Thurrock and Havering.
He leaves behind his wife, two daughters and four grandchildren.
