This week’s Down Memory Lane takes us back to Chadwell St Mary.
One photo shows a car parked in Claudian Way 1958 with fields stretching into the distance.
Then with a photo from 1961 we see the start of the work laying sewers and roads for the housing estate with more than 1,000 dwellings and Defoe shops that we know today.
Then we have the old Victorian school in Brentwood Road with scout hut next to it between 1960 and 1970. Finally the car park next to the library in 1967, the Scout hut is now gone and replaced by the Marsico Hall.
We wonder how Chadwell will look in another 50 years.
