Plans have been unveiled to build a new home in the car park of a Goldhanger pub.

The car park of the Chequers Inn, in Fish Street, could be see a new two-storey, three-bedroom property built, while keeping the 20 parking spaces outside the pub.

Although the pub is said to date back to the 16th or 17th century, architects WYG claim the building would not be out of keeping with the rest of the area.

A spokesman said: “The surrounding area is primarily residential, comprising of low to medium density two-storey buildings.

“The homes are a mixture of detached, and semi-detached properties, constructed in a variety of materials, although predominantly feature brick and render. Many of the homes along Fish Street and Church Street are from the 20th and 21st century.”
