ONE of the borough's leading hotels has broadended its horizons with a name change.

Formerly known as the Park Inn Lakeside, the North Stifford hotel has changed its name to the Park Inn Thurrock.

General manager Didier Boehlen said: "The decision to change the name has arisen due to the growing development and strong economic growth in Thurrock largely due to the Thames Development Corporation projects taking place.

"The hotel is close to Lakeside shopping centre, the Port of Tilbury and Dartford bridge, only two miles from the M25 (junction 30/31), and provides direct access for the A13.

"The Park Inn Thurrock is a beautifully converted Georgian Manor, set in six acres of landscaped gardens, providing the perfect setting for weddings, conferences and leisure breaks.

"The hotel boasts 97 en-suite guest bedrooms, 11 modern meeting rooms, two luxury banqueting suites and a regency style restaurant."

Prior to being taken over and renamed with the Park brand a couple of years ago the hotel was known as the Lakeside Moathouse.
