Football fans have been given the chance to purchase their very own soccer stadium - for just £3m.

Thurrock FC, in Essex is currently on the market after chairman Tommy South failed to find a new owner since announcing he was stepping down due to "health reasons".

Mr South bid a fond farewell to the club after a ‘30-year rollercoaster journey’ finally came to an end May this year.

And with a buyer not forthcoming, the future of the club is looking increasingly bleak.

The stadium property where the team played since 1984 has gone up for sale and costs £2,950,000 - details posted on the website of Dedman Gray Commercial.

The main pitch is surrounded by seating, terraced stands, a clubhouse, stadium catering outlet and merchandise shop.

A further two football pitches are located to the north of the main pitch used as training and playing fields.

Included in any proposed sale is the clubhouse, a stadium catering outlet and a merchandise shop. The whole lot, located off junction 30 of the M25, is up for sale.

The site is separated into three main areas: Thurrock Football Club, which is 5.45 acres in size, the training pitches, which are 9.15 acres and the buffer zone, measuring 2.81 acres.

More details about the football stadium cam be found on the Rightmove website.

Miles Shipside, Rightmove’s property expert, said: "It’s not every day that you see a football stadium for sale on Rightmove, but I’m sure lots of football fans will be interested in this plot of land.

"As a Nottingham Forest fan, Ship Lane is not quite as impressive as the City Ground, but it was a football cathedral for Thurrock fans, and I’m sure the site will be snapped up soon."
