A CAB driver had his £500 takings stolen after being stopped in the borough.
The 34-year-old Grays man was driving his taxi along Billet Lane in Corringham when he was hailed by a group of two men and three women.
As the taxi driver got out and opened the door for the group he was pushed into the footwell of the car by the two men who helped themselves to his takings.
The group then fled in a green Peugeot leaving their victim shaken but uninjured.
The two male robbers are both described as afro carribean. One was about 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build, with black cropped hair. he wore a green and white striped t-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms.
His accomplice was aged about 20 to 22, also 5ft 9ins tall and of medium build. He had short black cropped hair and wore a black t-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms.
Witnesses to the attack, which happened at 1.30am on Saturday, (September 29), are asked to contact police at Grays on 01375 391212 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
