A RACING driver has been awarded for her abilities on and off the track.

Emily Linscott, student at St Clere’s School in Stanford-le-Hope received Regional Young Athlete of the Year (South East) and the overall National Young Athlete of the Year award at the Everyone Active Sporting Champions National Awards in London.

The ceremony was held at the Porchester Hall and Spa, which Emily was unable to attend in person as she was competing in her International Formula 4 debut at the Sepang F1 Circuit in Malaysia.

Basildon Sporting Village sent their representative, Vicky Ayris-King, to accept the two awards from former Olympic medallist and Sporting Champions Ambassador, Colin Jackson, on Emily’s behalf. The awards were given following on from her fantastic Young Sports Personality of the Year award with Active Basildon.

Emily said: “I was shocked when my parents told me I’d won them as we didn’t even know about them. They mean such a lot to me as I put a huge amount of effort in to becoming the best I possibly can be, so to have that recognised by Everyone Active makes me very proud.”
