This week in Down Memory Lane we travel to Horndon-On-The-Hill.
First, we see rural Horndon in 1908, with the village set on the hilltop ridge. The first photo looks down the hill past the Bell Inn while the second looks up towards the main part of the village.
The mixed grouping of buildings from many eras is something that has grown over the centuries. Next we see the windmill and yard buildings in about 1910. They have all gone now, but the remains of its brick base can be found in the centre of a small housing estate.
The church has of course survived and is still of interest to visitors.
Last, but not least, we see the water pump in Pump Street which supplied the whole village with water, again in about 1910.
