YOUNGSTERS in Thurrock are getting early hints on how to become good drivers under a new scheme.

'Road Runners' in Thurrock is aimed at year 11 and 12 students and designed to help them become safe drivers.

The Thurrock scheme is a culmination of efforts of several different organisations including Thurrock Council's Road Safety Team, Essex Fire and Rescue, Essex Police, the Driving Standards Agency and staff at Grangewaters.

Pupils are receiving interactive education by participating in five different scenarios and after lunch the pupils participated in team building exercises using Grangewater facilities.

Funding was secured for the event by a successful bid to the Safer Thurrock Partnership.
