A SPECIAL “Giving for Thurrock Day” will be held for people of the borough next year, it has been revealed.

The event, scheduled for March 29, 2019, is a chance to celebrate all that’s good in the borough and is thanks to the Giving for Thurrock charity.

The day, and organisation, now has the backing of Ikea Thurrock.

Giving for Thurrock is also the chosen charity of borough mayor, Barbara Rice.

The charitable organisation, partnering Thurrock CVS, raises funds for voluntary and community groups while connecting communities in Thurrock.

It supports more than 300 charities, groups and organisations who support and serve the people of Thurrock and rely on donations, fundraising or volunteer services that directly impact on people’s lives.

Kristina Jackson, chief executive at Thurrock CVS, said “Having a strong partner on board makes all the difference to our local community fund.

“As well as fundraising, Giving for Thurrock connects communities and supports volunteering.

“We can react quickly in identifying where need is required locally though our network of community organisations.”
