A crew of selfless women have raised more than £1,500 for charity following a sponsored walk.

The walkers from Tillingham took on the walk in August in order to raise cash for Cancer Research UK.

The group gathered at The Fox and Hounds in The Square to hand over the cheque for £1,600 to the charity, which leads research in the UK on ways to treat cancer.

Annette Morris, one of the six fundraisers, said: "I am truly grateful for everyone who took part in the sponsored walk in the awful weather we had that day, and also for everyone for their help on the day in making it happen and for the generous donations we received through sponsorship forms, just giving online and bucket collections on the day.

"I am truly honoured to live in such a lovely village with great support all round.

"I am very proud of the massive amount we have raised for such a great cause in honour of loved ones we’ve lost and loved ones still fighting the fight."
