A day centre that cares for adults with learning disabilities has celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Essex Care Ltd’s (ECL) Chapter House Wellbeing Hub marked a quarter of a century in Carmelite Way, Maldon with visitors, staff and a host of people in the community.

They all gathered at the centre on Friday for an afternoon of food drinks as well taking the time to recognise their staff who in some cases have given more than a decade of loyal service.

Jonathan West, local business manager of Chapter House was proud of the hub’s achievements over the last 25 years.

He added the event was the perfect way to recognise its long history with its customers and staff.

Mr West said: “We’ve had many happy years providing support to adults with disabilities both within the hub and in the community.

“Today was a day to mark that and it was brilliant to see so many past staff and customers back again to help us celebrate.”

The day centre offers support and sensory equipment to people in order to gain more confidence and help them feel a part of their community.

Keir Lynch, chief executive of ECL was amazed that Chapter House has continue to improve its facilities in the past 25 years and as a result has “stood the test of time” alongside its dozens of other hubs in the county.

Mr Lynch said: “We have 30 hubs that support communities across Essex, along with reablement and equipment services, and our offerings continue to grow as we meet the needs of an increasing population.”

Former visitors and their family members also attended the event to show their thanks for the care the hub gave their loved ones.

The centre’s visitors have shown themselves to be just as loyal as the staff has been to them.

Among the 25 people who are currently being supported by the centre was Lisa Lambe.

She has been visiting the centre every week since it opened 25 years ago.

Her parents, Judith and Brian could not thank the team at Chapter House enough for the support their daughter has received throughout her life.

The service continues to support people in Maldon.
