A mum from Mayland is set to release her first novel.

Faye Clark, 43’s first book, Harper’s Fate is a tale of a young girl, Kate Harper who falls in love with a mysterious rich man, Luke Sutton who she unknowingly finds herself working for as a maid.

Mother of three, Faye said the book is a story of “Cinderella meets her James Bond”.

She said: “They always say that you should write what you love, and I did exactly that.

“The girl in the book just wants a simple life and she is faced with the same every day dilemmas we all experience.

“I’m sure if girls read it they would say ‘that happened to me’.”

The novel which is the first in a trilogy of books was not simple for Faye to get published.

Faye first considered writing a novel five years ago.

She said: “I remember reading one book and just thinking I had wasted my time and money reading it and it was not the story I hoped I would get.

“After that, I turned to my husband and said to him, ‘I am going to write my own book’.”

After years of planning the stories and putting together the love story, in 2017 Faye began writing the trilogy.

Although it took just two months to write the first instalment, Faye received a few “knock backs” over the course of the last year before deciding she would publish the book independently.

She said: “I started the first book in October last year and it was finished by December, so I got everything written quite quickly.

“When I was writing the books, I got in touch with an editor and sent them the first drafts.

“They told me that I needed to cut out a lot of the pieces that people would skip, and I kept up that practice with all three of them.

“I had sent the book out to a number of publishers and sadly had a few knock backs along the way, so in the end I decided to just publish it myself.”

Despite the tough experience in bringing the first book to release, Faye has received huge support from her friends and family who are very proud of what she has achieved.

Jackie Ainger, 46, of Glendale Road in Burnham-on-Crouch, a close friend of Faye, said: “It is an amazing book.

“The moment I read the first I wanted to know the next part of the story.

“Faye was already writing the second book as I had finished the first and when she said, I had to get over to her house and find out more.

“My friends and I have all pre-ordered the book.”

Harper’s Fate is finally set for release and Faye is confident it will have readers waiting for the next two books to be published quickly after.

She said: “I have had just incredible support from my friends and family and they have kept me going through it despite the setbacks I have had.

“The other two are already finished so as long as this goes well, I will release them very quickly after.”
