GREAT Wakering Rovers will need to raise their game if they are to see off Aveley in the Essex Senior Cup.

That is the view of manager Garry Kimble, whose team won 2-1 against Witham Town on Saturday to climb into 11th in the Isthmian North - only two points off the play-off places.

Aveley are second in the league and are hotly fancied to challenge for promotion this term. And Kimble says he expects his team to work hard.

“I still want to win the game,” he said. “It will be hard and they will be strong.

“I saw them against Basildon and they were big and strong and everyone knew their jobs. It is a tall order but if we can apply ourselves we can give it a good go.”

Kimble confirmed he will make changes for the game but says if his team match their levels against Witham they can enjoy another good result.

He said: “I will be making changes and it gives us a chance. We need to utilise the squad and people do need 90 minutes.

“Saturday was a good result, we started well and we could have been two or three up before we scored the second.”
