We had the weekend off last week but are back in action this weekend against Maldon & Tiptree. It will be a tough game as they always are against Maldon but in terms of the bigger picture it is very early days so I don’t think there is too much at stake in terms of the result.

But it will be a good measuring stick to see if we can compete with the best in this division as Maldon will certainly be up there come the end of the season.

We did have a few walking wounded before last weekend’s fixtures so the break was not the end of the world.

We were hopeful of recruiting someone in this period and giving them a chance to come in but that hasn’t panned out. But the players we have got what they needed out of it.

We are in the market for a wide player but it is nothing we are worried about. Eventually we will solve it but we are very happy with the players we do have.

It is the FA Cup this weekend and Billericay Town and Concord Rangers are in action.

Billericay play Taunton Town and they will be clear favourites in their game. They have a home tie against a side from a lower level, albeit a good side that beat St Albans. I would be surprised if they didn’t advance and after what happened last year against Leatherhead in front of the television cameras they will have the bit between their teeth.

Concord welcome Dover and I am not sure how they will feel about this game. Dover are underperforming in their league but have changed their manager recently.

This can play a big role as we had a similar experience in the FA Cup against Hemel Hempstead Town. They had just changed their boss and it does instil a bit of uncertainty about what you will be up against.

There is no doubt Dover are one of the top teams in the National League despite their struggles this season.

That said, if you ever are going to overcome them now seems to be the time to do it.
