A RAILWAY museum is hosting several special events to keep the children entertained throughout September.

Colne Valley Railway will be visited by a number of popular tv characters, with Peppa Pig the first to make a special appearance on Sunday, September 9.

Peppa will be popping up all over the museum to say hello to visitors.

Trains will continue to run as normal and regular activities such as the miniature railways will still be on offer.

Thomas the Tank Engine will take over from Peppa and will be joined by several of his friends on consecutive weekends later in the month.

Visitors will get the chance to ride on trains pulled along by Thomas himself, Daisy and Mavis.

The bossy Sir Topham Hatt, commonly known as the Fat Controller, will be keeping a watchful eye over the event, making sure all trouble makers are kept in line.

The Imagination Station, which offers youngsters the chance to play some games, do some colouring and even get temporary tattoos, will be open on each day.

Model railways will be set up in the garden and indoors while those looking to get hands on can take a trip to the signal box.

Thomas will be visiting Colne Valley Railway on the weekends starting Saturday, September 22 and Saturday, September 29.

The museum is open from 9.30am each day and tickets can be purchased in advance or on the gate.
