Grays Convent has a proud record of excellent exam results and this year has been no exception.

With 84% of students achieving the new headline figure of English and Maths combined, an increase of 12% from 2017, the school are delighted for their girls.

Surpassing its’ high EBacc pass rate at 45%, a 5% increase on last year, Headteacher, Penny Johnson, is thrilled, especially in light of the new GSCE standards introduced this year.

With some exceptional achievements across the board, the all girls’ school in Thurrock has particularly excelled across English with 97% achieving a 9-4 and Mathematics achieving its highest ever results of 84%.

In addition 23 of the 28 subjects available to study achieved 80% or more, with the notable achievement of 100% from Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as Resistant Materials and Photography.

“These results represent significant achievements by every student in the school “, says Penny Johnson, “They are a testament to their hard work and focus- and of course that of their teachers and parents. I am so very pleased for them. Congratulations Class of 2018 !”

The school are exceptionally proud of all of their students but a large number of girls achieved the remarkable feat of returning the highest grades (A*/A or 9/8/7) in so many subjects.

This sort of achievement takes an enormous commitment to study and special credit goes to, amongst so many others:

• Harveen Kaur, with a full house of the top grades with 8 grade 9’s and 2 A*’s,

• Anne- Mary Mateescu with 7 grade 9’s and 4 grade 8’s, and

• Archisha Tripurneni, Deputy Head girl with 5 grade 9’s and 4 grade 8’s.

These top students include Head girl Zoe Echanah who achieved , 8’s, 7’s and 6’s, whilst also carrying out her other duties across the school.
