Two men have been charged with possession of a knife and assault following car theft in Tilbury.
The Ford Focus was stolen from Raphael Avenue on August 4.
Following the theft, police were alerted to the incident when the vehicle was seen in East Tilbury Road, Linford, shortly after 11am on Saturday August 11.
Three men were arrested.
James Mitchell, 49, of Bronte Close, Tilbury, was charged with handling stolen goods and possession of a knife in a public place.
Joseph Wright, 20, of Victoria Road, Horndon-on-the-Hill, was charged with handling stolen goods, two counts of common assault and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.
The other man arrested on suspicion of robbery, a 27-year-old of no fixed address has been released under investigation.
They appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Monday, August 13 and denied the charges.
The next hearing will be on September 5 at Basildon Magistrates Court.
