BILLERICAY Town will open their National League South campaign against Truro City with a trip to Torquay.

Town, who won promotion after claiming the Isthmian Premier League title last term, are set to take on Truro on Saturday, August 4.

And due to development work at Truro’s Treyew Road home, the Cornwall club will play all of their home games at Plainmoor, the home of National League South rivals Torquay United, for the entirety of the 2018/19 campaign.

A Truro club statement read: “Truro City FC have received notice that Helical intend to start development of Treyew Road and require the site at the earliest opportunity to enable them to fulfil their agreement with Lidl Supermarket.

“This means we must vacate Treyew Road by July 31.

“While we were aware that there was a possibility of being asked to vacate Treyew Road during the 2018/19 season, we did not expect this to happen with such short notice.

“We have reached an agreement to groundshare with Torquay United for the 2018/19 season, commencing with our first home game on August 4 against Billericay Town.”

East Thurrock United and Concord Rangers will also play their away games against Truro at Plainmoor this term.
