Two men have been arrested following a fatal crash on the A13.

Officers were called at 09:53hrs on Tuesday, 20 March to the A13 eastbound between Ferry Lane and New Roundabout, Rainham, to reports of a road traffic collision. Two vehicles were involved.

London Ambulance Service, London's Air Ambulance and London Fire Brigade attended.

A man, believed to be in mid 50s, who was in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are trying to trace and inform his next of kin. Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will be completed in due course.

Two men, both aged 18, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

They are currently in custody at an east London police station.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing following this fatal collision. 

The SCIU, part of the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command (RTPC), are leading the investigation.
