A determined daughter is raising money to provide thousands of pounds worth of treatment for her mum who has cancer.

Jessica Bailey has been supporting her mum, Debbie, since she was diagnosed with liver and brain cancer in October 2016.

The 55-year-old had already beaten breast cancer in 2014.

Her condition has now been diagnosed as terminal.

Jessica, from Kelvedon, said it has been a tough few months for her mum, who lives in New Kiln Road, Colchester.

She said: “We had some bad news as the cancer is here with a vengeance.

“We had to take her to have treatment with a private oncologist, which we had to self-fund.

“About seven new tumours have appeared.

“We have come back to the NHS to see if her current treatment is working and find out the next steps.

“Mum has been amazing, she is tackling everything head on and is still willing to fight.”

“It’s always been bad news up to this point.”

Up until now the family has forked out £60,000 to pay for private treatment.

If the NHS treatment she is on has not worked, they may have to go back to privately-funded treatment, which costs about £30,000 per cycle. Last summer, Debbie’s husband Jay did a 13,00ft skydive to raise money for her.

Jessica, 28, is hosting a masquerade ball to raise money which will help cover the costs.

It will be held on March 3 at Braxted Park, in Great Braxted, from 6.30pm.

There will be live music and entertainment and it is a black tie event.

Tickets are £60 and include a welcome drink, three course meal and wine.

There will be live music and a casino.

Call Jessica on 01376 749128 or 07921 140540.

All proceeds from the night will go towards funding Debbie’s furture treatment.
