THE cream of Irish country music is coming to the Circus Tavern in September, when award-winning singer John McNicholl brings his show to Thurrock.

The singer won “Best Newcomer” at the Irish World Awards, as well as having supported Elton John, Daniel O’Donnell and Sir Cliff Richard on stage.

Following a number of trips to the United States, he is coming to Purfleet as part of his latest UK tour.

The Circus Tavern show will feature John McNicholl and his full Irish country band, along with support from singer Lisa Stanley.

Previous performance highlights include taking the stage at the prominent Irish country music festival, the Kincasslagh Festival, in County Donegal, as well as representing Ireland at the CMA Global Showcase in Nashville.

Born and raised in a small village called Foreglen in Northern Ireland, John grew up one of 15 children.

His love for performance began in his local choirband, and influences included country stars such as Vince Gill, Dolly Parton, George Jones, Keith Urban and Leanne Womack.

His first three albums, Something Old, Something New, What’s a Guy Gotta Do and Irish Collection – Volume 1, made John a household name on the Irish country music scene.

He has also released a self-titled DVD featuring tracks from his latest studio album, Someone Like You, inspired by his trips to America.

Tickets are £25, plus a £2.50 booking fee. The show is on Saturday, September 5, doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. To book, call 01708 863838.
