The villages of both Earls Colne and Bures are each approximately 3.5 miles away and Sudbury market town is some 8 miles to the north.

The surrounding villages and towns offer ample choice of sought after schooling options, with primary schools in Earls Colne, Colne Engaine and Pebmarsh ('Good' in recent OFSTED reports) and Bures ('Outstanding'). Just over 10 miles away is Colchester with two leading grammar schools - Colchester County High School for Girls and Colchester Royal Grammar School, and several highly regarded independent schooling options including Littlegarth, Holmwood House, St.Mary's Girls School and Colchester High School.

DIRECTIONS From Colchester A12 turn off to Cambridge A1124 . Go towards Earls Colne, under viaduct at Chappel, carry on the road until you get to White Colne, turn right to Bures, (this is exactly 6 miles from the A12). Drive up the Bures Road for 1½ miles and when you come to the crossroads turn left, signposted to Colne Engaine. After 100 yards the road forks, take fork to the right, signposted Daws Cross. Drive past Brambles Farm and Rye Fenn is on the right hand side down the hill, approximately ½ mile from right fork.

From Bures Go over bridge, if coming from Sudbury direction, turn right off the Colchester Road towards Lamarsh . Go under the railway bridge and turn immediately left to White Colne. Go along this road for nearly two miles and take the second turning on the right to Daws Cross (first turning is to Pebmarsh). Go along this lane, past Ravensfield Farm, down into the dip and turn left at the crossroads at the top of the hill. Drive on, past barn on the right and Rye Fenn, a cream coloured house, is in on the left hand side.

From the M11 Drive on A120 towards Colchester, turn left at Coggeshall, signposted to Earls Colne and the Essex Country Club. Carry on this road past the Essex and when you reach the mini roundabout on the A1124 turn right towards Colchester, away from Earls Colne. Drive past the village green on the left and take the next left turning, signposted to Bures. Go up the Bures Road for 1½ miles exactly and turn left at the crossroads, signposted to Colne Engaine. After 100 yards take the right hand fork to Daws Cross, go approximately ½ mile down this lane, past Brambles Farm and the house is on the right just down the lane.
