IF you live in Tilbury, don’t get ill.

That seems to be the sad state of affairs at the moment in the town.

There’s talk of a crisis and it’s clear services there have been pushed to breaking point.

A doctor’s been suspended after his surgery was deemed  “inadequate”.

Another came in for some damning criticism and has been placed in special measures – with immediate effect.

And the surgery which seemed to be doing better has been told it still isn’t good enough and needs to improve!

Meanwhile, residents in Tilbury are worried sick – and it’s clear to see why.

Things have got so bad that Andrew Pike, an NHS England director, was summoned to the council’s latest health and wellbeing meeting.

Angry councillors confronted him and the general consensus was something has to be done – and fast.

It was also highlighted that those living in Tilbury are likely to die NINE years younger than the national average.

These are worrying times for Tilbury residents.

As the council’s deputy leader, Barbara Rice, rightly stated: “It’s completely unacceptable.”

Mr Pike spoke of better doctors. That’s a bare minimum.

We now wait to see if a plan of action, with any real substance, is put into place
