Proposal: Extraction of Sand and Gravel with subsequent Restoration of Land to Agriculture Use and Woodland
Location: Land Adjacent To Strensham Water Treatment Works, Mill Lane, Upper Strensham, Worcestershire
I give notice that CEMEX UK Materials Limited is applying to Worcestershire County Council for planning permission for the above proposal. The application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement. The development would affect Public Rights of Way and may affect the setting of Listed Buildings. The applicant is seeking planning permission to extract approximately 430,000 tonnes of sand and gravel with the subsequent restoration of the land to agricultural use and woodland at Land adjacent to Strensham Water Treatment Works, Mill Lane, Upper Strensham, Worcestershire. It is proposed that the sand and gravel, once extracted, would be transported by HGV via a proposed new access direct onto the M5/M50 Motorway Interchange to the applicant's existing Ryall House Farm Quarry for processing and onward sale via theA38.
Worcestershire County Council consulted on the above application for planning permission in February 2010 and again in June 2011 following the submission of additional information in respect of the Environmental Statement. This application received a holding objection from the then Highways Agency (now Highways England) directing that planning permission is not granted for an indefinite period of time.Theapplicanthastriedtoovercomeobjectionsfrom Highways England,but to date has been unsuccessful. In June 2017 the applicant contacted the County Planning Authority to ask them to determine the application. The County Planning Authority is now consulting upon the planning application with a view to determine the application in due course.
Members of the public may inspect copies of the application, the plans, the Environmental Statement, the Non-Technical Summary and other documents submitted with the application at: Wychavon District Council, Civic Centre, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Pershore, WR10 1PT; County Hall, Spetchley Road, Worcester WR5 2NP and online at during office hours until 28 September 2017. The period for making representations about this proposal ends on 28 September 2017. Please state whether you would wish to address the Planning & Regulatory Committee if given the opportunity.
