THE M25 MOTORWAY AND A282 TRUNK ROAD (DARTFORD - THURROCK CROSSING) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
Notice is hereby given that the Highways England Company Limited (a) has made an Order on the M25 Motorway and A282 Trunk Road, in the County of Kent and the Unitary Authority of Thurrock, under section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order will be -
(a) to authorise the overnight closure of the clockwise carriageway of the A282 from a point 1000 metres south of the centre of the roundabout at Junction 31 (A1306/A1090), to a point 400 metres south of the overbridge at Junction 1A (A206), including the QEII bridge; a contra-flow system will be
in operation on the anti-clockwise carriageway through the eastern Dartford Tunnel and a vehicle width restriction (over 6 feet 6 inches) will be in force in one lane;
(b) to authorise the overnight closure of the slip road leading to the clockwise carriageway of the A282 at Junction 31(A1306/A1090); and
(c) to impose an overnight temporary mandatory 40mph speed restriction on the clockwise carriageway of the M25 and A282 from a point
2100 metres north of the centre of the roundabout at Junction 30 (A13), to a point 1000 metres south of the centre of the roundabout at Junction 31 (A1306/A1090), including the slip road leading to this carriageway Junction 30 (A13). These measures will be in the interests of road safety to enable contractors to undertake routine maintenance and/or urgent repair work.
It is expected that the work will take place periodically at the following times (maximum periods): Sunday - Thursday nights 20:30 - 05:30 Friday nights 21:00 - 06:00
Saturday nights 20:00 - 06:00
The Order will come into force on 4 January 2017 and have a maximum duration of twelve months. During the closures outlined above, traffic affected will be diverted via other junctions of the A282. The diversion routes will vary depending on the closure in place.
The carriageway closure, contra-flow system, vehicle width restriction, slip road closure, diversion route and temporary mandatory speed restriction will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works periods.
