national highways

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A20 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road by contractors working
on behalf of SGN.

The effect of the Order would be: -

a) to authorise the overnight closure of the London-bound carriageway of the A20 between Swanley Interchange (M20 Junction 1/M25 Junction 3) and Maidstone Road Junction (B2173);

b) to authorise the 24-hour closure of the lay-by adjacent to the London-bound carriageway of the A20 between points 532 metres and 1110 metres west of the centreline of the B2173 (London Road) overbridge; and

c) to impose a 24-hour mandatory 50mph speed restriction on the London-bound carriageway of the A20 between points 540 metres and 2300 metres west of the centreline of the B2173 (London Road) overbridge.

This measure would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake gas main replacement and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately 3 weeks starting on or after Friday 29th July 2022.
The Order would come into force on 27th July 2022 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by closure would be diverted using the B2173 and the B258.
The temporary closures, speed restriction and diversion signs would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
