Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A282 and A2 Trunk Roads in the County of Kent and Unitary Authority of Thurrock, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the roads. The effect of the Order would be to authorise the phased overnight closure of:-
a) the road leading to the clockwise carriageway of the A282 at Purfleet Interchange (M25 Junction 31);
b) the road leading to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the A282 at Darenth Interchange (M25 Junction 2) (A282/A2); and
c) the road leading to the London-bound carriageway of the A2 at Bean Interchange (A296/B255) (including the fast link leading from the southbound carriageway of the B255 to it).
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake sign and barrier replacements and all associated works. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 12 weeks starting on or after Friday 10th September 2021. The overnight closures affecting a) and b) above would take place between the following hours (maximum period): -
Monday - Thursdays 22:00 - 05:30
Fridays 23:00 - 06:00
Saturdays 22:00 - 06:00
Sundays 22:30 - 05:30
and c) between 21:00 and 06:00 every day.
The Order would come into force on 8th September 2021 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using other junctions on the M25/A282 and by using the A2, A296, B255, the distributor roads between A282 Junctions 1a and 1 b, and the fast link connecting the A2 to the A282. The diversion in operation would vary according to the closure in force.
The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works periods.
