HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 - SECTION 90 TRAFFIC CALMING FEATURE
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Bexley proposes to introduce a new traffic calming feature to Bowness Road, Barnehurst
The feature will be in the form of a build out that introduces priority traffic movement on a length of Bowness Road between numbers 44 and 56 Bowness Road - a length of approximately 33 metres - along which north east bound traffic will have priority over opposing traffic.
The measure forms part of a flood risk management scheme which introduces a "rain garden" to deal with rainwater and mitigate flooding problems. The scheme revises kerb lines, parking places and waiting restrictions, introduces a mandatory left turn from Silverdale Road into Bowness Road and priority traffic movement along a short length of Bowness Road where the provision of the "rain gardens" reduces the carriageway width.
This notice is published simultaneously with notification of proposed Traffic Management Orders in relation to this scheme. They cover changes to the waiting restrictions and parking places and the introduction of a mandatory left turn from Silverdale Road into Bowness Road.
A plan showing the location of the proposal can be viewed during normal office hours, Monday to Friday inclusive at the Contact Centre, Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, Kent DA6 7AT
Any person wishing to object to these proposals should send a statement in writing of their objections and the grounds thereof to the London Borough of Bexley, Engineering Services, Traffic & Road Safety Services, Civic Offices, 2 Wading Street, Bexleyheath, Kent DA6 7AT or by email to
