Coronation St star Le Vell cleared
Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell has been found not guilty by a jury of child sex offences following a trial at Manchester Crown Court.
Le Vell, 48, who has played garage mechanic Kevin Webster in the ITV1 soap for 30 years, had been accused of sexually assaulting and raping a young girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
On Monday, Judge Michael Henshell told the jurors in the week-long trial at Manchester Crown Court that their assessment of the alleged victim was "critical in this case".
Le Vell, being tried under his real name of Michael Turner, was cleared of five counts of rape, three of indecent assault, two counts of sexual activity with a child, and two of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
