THE biggest public show of opinion yet over the proposed new Thames crossing route will take place on Sunday in Grays.

Around 1,000 people are expected to converge on Grays High Street by the war memorial and unite against the plans at 12pm.

Campaigners from the Thames Crossing Proposals Facebook page have organised the event, where everyone is encouraged to wear red in a bid to say “no” to the proposals.

The event page on Facebook reads: “A mass demo to show the strength of opposition to any new crossing in Thurrock. We need you, your neighbours, friends and family to be there.

“The whole of Thurrock and areas beyond will be affected by more pollution, noise and congestion if this crossing goes ahead. Apathy will ensure it does.

“Come and make your voice heard! Wear red! Wave a banner! Let's SHOW Parliament that we are real people and we say NO to their proposal.”

The consultation for the new crossing ends on March 24. To take part, go to lower-thames-crossing.co.uk
