Darts hit five as Tilbury edge closer to drop

Dartford 5, Tilbury 0

TILBURY were brushed aside by Ryman One North title-chasing Dartford in front of 1,338 on Saturday and they face a nerve-wracking end of season finale and a desperate battle to avoid relegation.

Results elsewhere were mixed, with favourable results as relegation rivals Wivenhoe and Waltham Forest were beaten but Ilford's revival continued with a convincing win against Wingate and Finchley.

Ilford are next up for Tilbury, who simply can't afford to lose next Saturday's clash at Chadfields, whatever the outcome of Tuesday's Ryman League hearing, which could see them stripped of the hard-fought point against Wivenhoe because of the ineligibility of striker Craig Gilham.

Tilbury knew they had a mountain to climb at Dartford's impressive new stadium and it got all the taller early in the match when Eddie McClements fired into the top corner.

Further chances came and went for Dartford, with Tilbury offering little and Jay May increased the gap when heading home Ryan Hayes' cross.

Richard Wray produced a great save to keep out Adam Flanagan's header but the game was put beyond Dockers when May grabbed his second before the break.

Tilbury needed a bright start to the second half, if only for morale purposes, but they found themselves further behind soon after the restart when Jamie Coyle slammed home a penalty.

Wray produced another fine save, tipping May's shot over the bar but Darts wrapped up the scoring when Coyle headed home.

Tilbury: Richard Wray, Danny Smith, Calum Dodkins, Bradley Smart, Paul King (Danny O'Connor), Nathan Philip, Hugh Ashman (Tom Poole), Jamie Gray, Kurt Smith, Jay Taylor, Luke Stanley (Chris Brown). Subs not used: Ajibola Olatunbosun, Tony Vincent.

Ryman Division One North, up to and in Sat, April 12
