Nightmare night for Tilbury at Wivenhoe
 |
| SAW RED: John Lawrence |
Wivenhoe 6, Tilbury 1
TILBURY'S Ryman Division One North relegation battle at Wivenhoe ended in a drubbing and controversy with two players and all the club's management team sent off.
Slow-starting Tilbury found themselves three goals down at half time, with Lee Towner (12) and Lee Underwood (41 and 43) netting the goals.
However, a bright start to the second half saw James Dwyer pull a goal back on 58 minutes before the game turned sour.
Tilbury were incensed when referee Carl Fitch and his assistants missed a handball on the halfway line, followed by Townrow bursting through on goal. He rounded keeper Richard Wray but was felled by defender Brad Smart, who was sent off. Danny Flack converted the spot-kick.
Tilbury physio Steve Taylor was sent from the bench for his comments and manager John Lawrence and assistant Alan Moulder followed shortly afterwards as Tilbury's composure went into meltdown as Mr Fitch awarded a second penalty, converted by Underwood.
Tilbury's Paul King and James Dwyer were booked for their protests though Jay Taylor escaped punishment for commiting the offence.
With Tilbury in pieces Townrow burst through to net a sixth goal and shortly afterwards Danny Smith picked up his second yellow card, leaving Tilbury with nine players.

Well, well. Last season you got shot of Mr Angry yet you're still a nasty, bitter and petulant club - players, management and supporters alike. Where do you get them from? And on a scale of one to hundred just how poor is that Paul Ki[bold]bold[/bold] ng?

I am a wivenhoe supporter and attend the game. My thoughts were that Tilbury showed signs that they could play football but totally lost it and the game with it. It was one of those nights where a team converted almost every chance they had. We needed the points more and that showed.

[bold]Fewer[/bold] points Arnold.
Anyhow, Wivenhoe are a totally different side now from the one which started the season so poorly. My observations weren't (primarily) about Tilbury's lack of footballing ability, more the terrible attitude of the club as a whole.

sometimes when all around are slating you it's easy to have a siege mentality. With regards to Wivenhoe's new found form.... what a difference a cheque book makes
PS thanks for the grammar lesson

Tilbury - putting the 'mental'into mentality.
And whilst we're on the subject of cheque books I note that you've got a few new signings too. Please don't tell me that they include a replacement for Paul King, he's one of my favourite Dockers.
