The Dockers may not have any interest themselves in the end of season promotion race, but they proved here that they can play a major part in the outcome.

Play-off chasing Enfield Town came to Chadfields and left with no reward after suffering a 1-0 defeat.

The visitors still fill the vital fifth and final play-off spot, but this win allowed Tilbury to move up to 12th, and they are now searching for a top half of the table placing with six matches to go.

Tilbury, watched by a 142-strong crowd that was boosted by a large contingent of visiting fans, took a 27th-minute lead when good play by Jared Small, in which he beat two defenders, set-up Ben Bradbury to fire home.

The hosts had gone close to an opener on 17 minutes when Small had also been the architect, putting Manlee Brown clear to lob goalkeeper Rob Blackburn.

But the ball agonisingly cleared the post.

Enfield exerted heavy pressure as the game wore on, but could not find a leveller.

Tilbury go to Potters Bar Town tomorrow night to meet hosts who are a place below them in the table, but only three points behind with two games in hand.
