TILBURY began life without Gary Henty by securing a 1-0 win over Cheshunt.

Henty resigned as Dockers boss after the 4-0 defeat to Potters Bar Town in the FA Trophy preliminary round.

And Adam Vyse got what proved to be the only goal of the clash with Cheshunt, as Tilbury climbed up to seventh in the Isthmian North standings and are now just three points outside of the play-off places.

The Dockers, who are currently being led by caretaker manager John Sussex, went into the encounter having conceded 21 goals in their last five matches in all competitions.

But Clarke Bogard and the home side's rearguard held firm as they kept their first clean sheet in one day short of a month.

The winning goal came on the stroke of half-time, as Vyse neatly controlled a ball into the Cheshunt penalty area before turning and finding the top corner of the net, giving visiting goalkeeper Montel Joseph no chance.

And Cheshunt were unable to break down the resolute Tilbury defence, who notched their first win in five matches.
