PAUL Vaughan has stepped down from his post as Tilbury manager.

The Dockers boss left his role last night after five years at the club with his most memorable achievement reaching 3rd in the Ryman North in 2011/12 when his side lost 4-3 to Needham Market in a thrilling play off semi final.

He will remain at Chadfields and will now oversee all football at the club.

Vaughan will be replaced by two former Tilbury players, both of whom made over 100 appearances for the club.

Current midfielder Gary Henty has played over 100 times for the club and stalwart Danny Smith, who has played over 150 games, will be joint managers with immediate effect.

Another new arrival is George Young, another former player, who is promoted from his role of assistant manager of the reserve team.

Tilbury have endured a difficult start to the campaign, having won only three of their first 13 matches.

Chairman Danny Nash said: "Paul has been a good manager for the club and took the side to great heights three years ago. Paul will remain a big part of the club and will oversee the new management.

"The club thank Paul for his continuing hard work and welcome Gary, Danny and George to the club and will support the new management team."
